MBA or M.Tech

The choice between an M.tech and MBA depends on your own interest and inclination towards either of the options. If you enjoy handling the technical and scientific aspects of computer work, and are good at working in technical creation, modification and development , then M.Tech is a better option. On the other hand, if you have good communication and inter-personal skills, a logical and analytical approach to problem solving, and sound business skills, then you can consider an MBA. An MBA programme will enable you to move into the managerial area of planning, organization and financial control. You could also specialize in areas like marketing, finance , production or material management. Regarding study programmes, an M.Tech through correspondence is not advisable. A technical programme requires hours of practical work, labs and equipment without which the study is of little use.
You may take up an correspondence MBA programme, while working. There are several institutes that Offer correspondence MBA or PGDBM through correspondence. These include like IGNOU , Kurukshetra University , Narsee Monjee Institute of management studies ,Symbiosis centre for Distance Learning , IMT Ghaziabad , ICFAI University . THE All India Institute of Management Association ( AIMA ) also offers Correspondence MBA . The IIM also offer some PG programmes in Management . IIM kozikode conducts classes through Direcway`s VSAT connected classrooms at centres across INDIA.

Tina,

Informative blog. I am a senior Civil Engineering student at the national university of singapore. I wish to come back to India to do a master in business. Can you please enlighten me on the opportunities that are available to me from the point of view as a civil engineer.

I look myself as being a construction start-up in india in a period of another 5-6 years. What are the courses that I can do and how reputed are these universities.

If you could drop me an email @ gimmeabuzz@gmail.com it would be extreemely helpful.

Thanks in advance!
